Secretary-General of Dutch Ministry of Agriculture visits VanDrie Group
On Friday 25 January, Jan-Kees Goet, the Secretary-General of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), paid a visit to the VanDrie Group.
Subjects that are relevant to the VanDrie Group were discussed in detail during the visit. ‘We held intensive discussions on how to increase sustainability in the veal farming sector. This subject follows on from the vision that the Ministry of LNV published last year,’ explains Marijke Everts (Director Corporate Affairs VanDrie Group). The aim of the LNV vision is to achieve greater appreciation for farmers and for the Netherlands to become a pioneer in the transition towards circular agriculture. Circular agriculture is a system where nothing is wasted and where residual waste is reused as far as possible.
Everts continues: ‘We explained what we do to increase circularity, reduce antibiotic use and generate economic value from residual waste flows. Our veal farming sector has a future. We do not shy away from challenges. Together with our veal farmers, we will continue to demonstrate that in the years to come.
Jan-Kees Goet believes that conversations with farmers and manufacturers are very valuable. Goet: ‘If we enter into a dialogue, we can cooperate on improving the sustainability of the Dutch agricultural sector.’ Everts: ‘We see the ministry as a valuable partner. We collaborate closely in numerous areas. It is therefore very nice to be able to show Mr Goet our company.’
